THE NEED FOR IT TODAY AND WHY PEOPLE SHOULD OPT FOR MASTERS IN LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE COURSE

Just as Interiors is an essential now- a-days for a good livable environment inside a building, landscaping is an important aspect to create livable outdoor environment.

India is progressing fast in different fronts , at various levels giving opportunities for Architects and Landscape Architects to deal with various scales of projects right from an industrial premises of a software company to SEZ’s ( Special Economic Zones) . The need and demand for Landscape Architects and Landscape Planners is rising high. The potential clients want to create their identity and Image not only through architecture but also through the landscaping which is foremost seen even before entering the premises. They want to create good environment for their employees which in turn is going to benefit them through increased performance levels and thereby increase in profit and gross economic growth of India.

On the other hand progress also means cutting of trees, disturbed ecology and environment, Depleting Ozone layer, Increased global warming, Increase in Urban sprawl and subsequent pressures on cities and unfavourable living conditions. It means neglect of our Cultural landscapes, our Historic links and going away from our roots and getting dragged into a world which is more inhuman , more ecologically imbalanced.

‘Landscape Architecture’ deals with concerns and concepts related to pure nature, nature-man relationship and man made environments.

Landscape Architecture has a ‘history’ a ‘present’ and a ‘future’, which reveals man’s response to nature from the past till present over a passage of time . The essential dimension of Landscape Architecture is the dimension of time which makes it interesing and ever changing.
Landscape Architecture encompasses aspects such as ecology, environmental upgradation, industrial landscapes, wasteland management, forest landscapes, urban landscapes, recreational and residential landscapes, green belts, roadscapes, cultural and historic landscapes and so on… Today, rapidly evolving technologies and processes like GATT has opened the gateway to the world, allowing the Indian architects to work on prestigious projects abroad and giving their expertise to the other nations and vice-versa . This situation invites for competition and only specialization in a discipline can give you a competitive edge.
