THE NEED FOR IT TODAY AND WHY PEOPLE SHOULD OPT FOR MASTERS IN LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE COURSE

Just as Interiors is an essential now- a-days for a good livable environment inside a building, landscaping is an important aspect to create livable outdoor environment.

India is progressing fast in different fronts , at various levels giving opportunities for Architects and Landscape Architects to deal with various scales of projects right from an industrial premises of a software company to SEZ’s ( Special Economic Zones) . The need and demand for Landscape Architects and Landscape Planners is rising high. The potential clients want to create their identity and Image not only through architecture but also through the landscaping which is foremost seen even before entering the premises. They want to create good environment for their employees which in turn is going to benefit them through increased performance levels and thereby increase in profit and gross economic growth of India.

On the other hand progress also means cutting of trees, disturbed ecology and environment, Depleting Ozone layer, Increased global warming, Increase in Urban sprawl and subsequent pressures on cities and unfavourable living conditions. It means neglect of our Cultural landscapes, our Historic links and going away from our roots and getting dragged into a world which is more inhuman , more ecologically imbalanced.

‘Landscape Architecture’ deals with concerns and concepts related to pure nature, nature-man relationship and man made environments.

Landscape Architecture has a ‘history’ a ‘present’ and a ‘future’, which reveals man’s response to nature from the past till present over a passage of time . The essential dimension of Landscape Architecture is the dimension of time which makes it interesing and ever changing.
Landscape Architecture encompasses aspects such as ecology, environmental upgradation, industrial landscapes, wasteland management, forest landscapes, urban landscapes, recreational and residential landscapes, green belts, roadscapes, cultural and historic landscapes and so on… Today, rapidly evolving technologies and processes like GATT has opened the gateway to the world, allowing the Indian architects to work on prestigious projects abroad and giving their expertise to the other nations and vice-versa . This situation invites for competition and only specialization in a discipline can give you a competitive edge.

OUR PROGRAMME
A rigorous training of 2 years trains the students to thoughtfully intervene into the existing landscapes to enhance both urban and rural environments ecologically as well as aesthetically

OUR PHILOSOPHY

This course therefore focuses on : 1 Developing our own philosophy of landscape architecture by drawing upon Indian references to create Indian contemporary Landscapes.2 Effectively design contemporary landscapes and resolve environmental issues and ecological issues . 3 Developing attitudes and concerns to create efficient and sustainable living environments and meaningfully contribute to the society by handling various scales of landscape projects

these courses would add to the parent course.

it would be better if the courses are categorised into- course for tecnical and non-technical background separately, instead of saying for housewives.

it would be great to start the research promotion schemes based on the concept by AICTE for the passed out students of march to strenthen the value of the course,

the topics like cultural landscapes can be taken up under theses schemes

the research cell would help to have tie ups with foreign universities and so on

there can be a 6 months foundation course in landscape architecture for seniors who have studied landscape long back or for the students seeking admission for march landscape course

there can also be an on-line course of one year based on this,

i would think about this more and get back again

I am working as a Landscape garden designer over 20 years having intense love and self studied theoritical and practical knowledge on Biodynamic Garden designing, execution and maintenance. I have also contributed and delivered papers on various technical subjects of Biodynamci and biological system in the National and International Conferences. I wish I could have undertken graduation course in LA which I always wanted, but in my yester years, I was misguided and was forced to graduate in the subject which never interested me. I wonder if I can still undertake your short course on LA and if I would be considered as a qualified LA, after that.
What do I need to do if I would like to join the course. Please send me the details.
Do you have any distant learning course too as I am having my committments for my existing business set up?
Do you have any branch in Calcutta or plan to open one. I may be helpful then.
